GROTON PYLON ALLIANCE – PRESERVING SUFFOLK’S COUNTRYSIDE
PYLONS NEWS FLASH: MORE INFORMATION FROM NATIONAL GRID
At the Babergh District Council meeting on Thursday 11th February, National Grid recognised the need to respond to the many questions from the public and elected officials about the costs of undergrounding pylon lines and the possibilities of pursuing options such as a sub-sea solution and some modern systems of transmission used in continental Europe.
They have therefore undertaken to supply more information on these topics. It’s not yet clear how and when they will supply it; but we will let you know as soon as we have any news.
However, National Grid told the Alliance in a meeting on Friday 12th February that the exercise would be information giving only. This means that they do not intend to widen the number of Options available (to include undergrounding of the whole line for instance), nor will the Consultation period be extended beyond 28th February 2010.
The Alliance has therefore submitted its response to National Grid based on the information that we currently have, and to the current timetable.
More news as it becomes available.
