Groton is a village and civil parish in Suffolk, England located around a mile north of the A1071 between Hadleigh and Sudbury. It is part of Babergh district.

In addition to Groton village itself, the parish contains the hamlets of Broad Street, Castling's Heath, Gosling Green, Horner's Green and Parliament Heath. It is home to several ancient woodlands, including Groton Wood (a Site of Special Scientific Interest (“SSSI”)), Mill Wood and Winding Wood nature reserves, a section of Bull's Cross Wood (which is part of the Milden Thicks SSSI) and a tributary to the River Box. Pitches Mount, the remaining earthworks of a wooden castle built in the 14th century and a scheduled ancient monument , is also found in the parish.

History: Groton has strong links with the United States. In 1630 John Winthrop, Lord of the Manor of Groton, left Groton to sail to the east coast of the United States. He went on to found the City of Boston and became the first Governor of Massachusetts.Groton, Massachusetts is named after the village, as it was founded by a member of the Winthrop family, Dean Winthrop, in 1655. Groton, Connecticut was also named after the village to honour John Winthrop Jr. who settled in that area in 1646. Groton maintains close links with the Winthrop family in the United States.
