Suffolk Pylons
South Suffolk Pylon Corridors

FYI in response to the comments by Ed in the Box River  News

At the presentation I attended by national grid they made it extremely
clear that it was not an option at all to be putting the cable  underground.
They stated very clearly and categorically that it would not  happen and the
route would be one of the 4 options presented.

For that reason I have supported the GPA in supporting route 2.  And  it is
for the same reason that the GPA is supporting route 2.

The GPA has been dynamic and tireless in their defence of our villages,
landscape and properties and I am amongst many in being extremely grateful to
them.

Whether cables go underground or not is a policy decision to be discussed
at a more senior level and should indeed be pursued.  However for our
immediate issue NG made it clear that any votes for undergrounding would be
wasted votes.

Please use my letter to support your plan to fight the construction of these power
lines and their pylons.

I have just learned of the 400kV Overhead power lines that will run through and near
several VERY picturesque villages in the Suffolk countryside, particularly the
village of Groton.  Since 1990, my husband and I have visited this part of England
every six years, as his ancestors emigrated to the US from Long Melford.  Each time
we visited, we also went to the historic St.Bartholomew's Church in Groton,
traveling through the lovely countryside in that area.  I cannot imagine that you
seriously plan to mar the beauty of this area with these gigantic pylons and lines.
Surely you can put them underground or find other areas through which to string
them.  Do you really want to do anything to discourage tourists from visiting these
unspoiled areas?

Message: I and my wife Lynda strongly support your objectives and the straegy which
you articulated at the meeting on 23 November.  We will do all that we can to try to help.
Although we live in Naughton, to the north of Route 4, we are very conscious of the
need to put forward a balanced approach relating to all four corridors to avoid
National Grid adopting a solution based on the strength or weakness of the
opposition to any of the proposals. Good luck and all strength to your efforts on our behalf!

Message: A QUICK NOTE TO SAY HOW USEFUL THE MEETING AT DOVE BARN WAS LAST NIGHT.

Thank you for hosting such an informative event last evening. The turnout shows the
strength of feeling and support for the Alliance. We wish you/us good luck for the
future.

Message:
Congratulations on a very clear factual website.

Message: Well done for all the work done so far in protesting against Nation Grid
plans for pylons. Please ensure that the Great Waldingfield Parish Council are
signed up and committed to supporting your co-ordinated opposition to the plans
against routes 3 and 4.

Message: I would like to pledge my support to your alliance.  I am a resident of
Upsher Green, conservation hamlet between Great and Little Waldingfield and very
close to the proposed corridor 4.

Message: Thank you all for what you are doing to try to spare our homes and lives
from destruction. This is a terrible threat and my home at ---------------- in Milden
would be decimated as would so many others.  I am happy to give a donation or
support in any way I can; just let me know.  This website is superb.

Message: Well done the team in setting up such a professional website.
