The Groton Pylon Alliance is a new conservation group formed in September 2009 to
represent the interests of a number of villages in south Suffolk in relation to
National Grid’s proposed infrastructure project for a new 400kV overhead line from
Bramford near Ipswich to Twinstead near Sudbury.
The GPA currently includes the villages of Groton, Kersey, Boxford,
Edwardstone, Aldham, Milden, Chelsworth, Semer, Whatfield,
Nedging-with-Naughton, Elmsett, Little Waldingfield, Great Waldingfield,
Lavenham, Brent Eleigh, Monks Eleigh, Bildeston and Lindsey although other villages and communities in south Suffolk
potentially affected by National Grid proposals and sharing the GPA’s aims are very
welcome to contact and work with the GPA.
Our website is intended to provide the people of south Suffolk with information
on the GPA. It will be updated regularly with details of its activities, including
reports on its ongoing dialogue with National Grid.
